Write for 5 consecutive minutes on the word “jump” as it pertains to this past year. No editing. Set a timer. Just write.
Geez, you know I’m not really that good under pressure- with writing anyways. I’m much better at writing than I am at talking because I have the time to really think about what I’m going to say before it comes out of my fingers.
So I’ll just jump right into it. I taught BodyAttack last night and so right now, when I think of the word jump all that comes to mind is me and a group of 30 or so other adults jumping around like banshees for an hour. It is one of my biggest joys.
BodyAttack was my most resisted format. I was worried that if I took on a third Les Mills format that my others would suffer. I was worried that I wouldn’t like it as much as the others and that it would be a waste of time.
But it ended up being my favorite. I could give up everything else if I had to and just teach Attack.
For anyone who doesn’t know, BodyAttack is a high energy, sports inspired, cardio conditioning class. We do some fun 80’s hi/lo moves like the grapevine and step touch, but quickly move into aerobic training, running, plyometric training, agility, intervals, and ultimately power training. So, pretty much everything except the grapevine and step touch has our feet leaving the ground. And we jump jump jump for an hour.
Well time is up already!! That was a quick 5 minutes. So I’ll leave you with this: a picture of my first BodyAttack launch with a fabulous girl who became one of my dearest friends through this class.
