reverb13 // Anchor: What kept you tethered in 2013?
Everyone needs someone they can rely on to tell them the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I am fortunate to have a few of these people in my life.
I met Orjiugo several years ago through our mutual friend Danielle. Through the years, we have coincidentally gotten the opportunity to work together, both professionally, and as instructors at our local gym chains, and have been through the full range of everything girlfriends should go through… breakups, disappointments, hard decisions, engagements, and deliriously happy times.
Orjiugo has a way of telling me the truth that is resounding, thoughtful, and sincere. If she agrees with me, I believe her and don’t feel like she is just trying to appease or calm (or worse, just shut me up). If she doesn’t agree with me, she gives me all of the sound reasons why and we are able to discuss our differences of opinion and clarify until we are on the same page.
And maybe that’s why I have felt tethered. Because at the end of every discussion, easy or difficult, I feel like we are on the same page. That I always have her on my side. Even if she’s persuaded me to switch sides. 😉
Life would be a lot more confusing and a lot less peaceful without her. Thank you, dear friend.
