#reverb14 // Lucky Me

Posted on

A wise person once told me that there is no such thing as luck.  When opportunity intersects with hard work, you create your own luck.  And, it can be easily missed.  Because the universe throws out opportunities every second of the day for something incredible to happen.  But, are we paying attention, willing to make the effort, and able to get after it right at that moment?

I feel lucky every day. I feel lucky that I have a beautiful house.  I feel lucky that I am getting married to my best friend and an amazing partner.  I feel lucky that I have the cutest doggie that adores me and is so well behaved and sweet.  I feel lucky to have my job in this economical climate in the private contracting world.  I feel lucky to have such a great team that works for me, not a single one of them would let me down.  I feel lucky to have so many loving wonderful friends who have become my family.

So many would argue that I am, in fact, lucky.  But another wise person once told me that nothing worth having is for free.  …gee, I’m so lucky to have known so many wise people…

So I worked hard in school and at my job, and that earned me a fancy title and good income.  And that afforded me my beautiful house.  It wasn’t an accident.  It was on purpose.  Of course I am so grateful for the opportunity to go to school, to have a corporate ladder to climb, and have driven past my house with the for sale sign out front.  But without All Of The Hard Work it would have never been lucky.

I met a great girl who loved to cycle, and who not only could keep up with me, but leave me in the dust.  She showed me that I could be more than what I am.  And I am so fortunate to have met her, but without the hard work of growing and embracing my true self, we could not be together.  It wasn’t an accident.  It was on purpose.  Now, I would argue that since the cutest doggie in the world was hers, and she chose to share him with me that I am Just Pure Lucky to have him.  I mean, come on

Right????????

Anyways…

I guess what I’m trying to say that is that I’m not all that lucky.  I’m just grateful and hard working.  And that is something we can all be and do.
